Fiber Bragg Grating Interrogation Systems
Fiber Bragg grating interrogation systems are the devices used to measure and monitor the wavelength shifts of FBG sensors. There are different technologies that can be used for FBG interrogation. The systems listed below (and described further in their specification sheets) make use of a scanning laser (si425 and si720), spectroscopy (HS-FOIS), or passive filtering (UHS-FOIS). AITHER is a value-added reseller of Micron Optics’ FBG instrumentation systems and has over 6 years experience using Micron Optics’ instrumentation. AITHER also provides a standard software user-interface for the si425 and custom software user-interface development services.
A complete, stand-alone FBG instrumentation system capable of 4 optical channel operation at 250 Hz sampling rate. Four standard view screens include graphical wavelength vs. time, tabulated wavelength vs. time, optical power vs. wavelength, and FFT view. The instrument may also be networked via an Ethernet port, ideal for data acquisition and control. Optional Software available – see below.
Documentation.
A compact interrogator specifically designed for measuring slowly-changing phenomena, like strain, temperature and pressure with a 1 Hz sampling rate. An Ethernet interface to any computer makes data collection and analysis fast and easy. Harsh applications are also served well by the sm125. It is designed for long-term operation in extreme temperatures like those found at many measurement sites.
Documentation.
A high power, high accuracy, high resolution spectral analyzer provides higher accuracy and resolution than the si425 and can be used for a wide variety of optical sensors. The system provides users with a complete understanding of how the spectral shape of the sensor reacts to varying physical conditions – rather than only reporting shifts in central wavelengths from FBG sensors.

Options
Multi-channel optical switch or coupler module (8- and 16-channel options) designed for use with the si425 and sm125. The host Sensing Interrogator facilitates all controls and commands of the sm040 module and makes multiplexed system data available exclusively through the Ethernet remote interface.
Documentation.
AITHER provides a standard user-interface for the si425, allowing the user to easily interrogate multiple FBG sensor types (strain, temperature, pressure, etc.) and store and manage sensor data. Custom software applications are also available to meet specific application needs.
